Some of the rudest street names in the UK have been revealed – and each one costs property owners in the region of £84,000.

New research by NeedaProperty.com shows houses built on the 15 streets with the most embarrassing titles were worth an average of £84,000 less than a similar property elsewhere, highlighting just how important it is to pick a road with the right name.

Some 60 per cent of people said they would be put off the idea of living in a street if it had a rude name, but the other 40 per cent could be vulnerable to a lack of value and potentially finding it difficult to sell when the time comes to move.

The most embarrassing street in the UK was, according to a poll, Minge Lane in Upton upon Severn, Worcestershire, which was given the thumbs down by 31 per cent of voters.

But it was far from the only address that many Britons could not bear to live in, with Slag Lane in Lowton finishing second with 26 per cent of people finding it embarrassing, Fanny Hands Lane in Ludford (24.9 per cent) third, Bell End in Rowley Regis (22.5 per cent) fourth and Crotch Crescent in Marston (19.6 per cent) rounding off the top five.

Other road names that were named among the worst to live in included The Knob, Turkey Cock Lane, Cockshoot Close and Cumming Street, all of which exist in various parts of the UK.

The website noted that while a funny or rude street name can be a great conversation starter, it is certainly not a good thing when it comes to trying to sell a property.

On the other hand, those who find they are happy to live in an unusually-named street will find there are plenty of bargains to be had by bidding for properties in these locations.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801698135-ADNFCR
