Single people may have a better chance of finding love if they have good money management skills.

Research commissioned by the Money Advice Service – and carried out by YouGov – has found that 59 per cent of people view the ability to budget as an attractive quality.

Nearly two-thirds (64 per cent) of individuals think money is an influencing factor on a relationship, while 72 per cent would not embark on a relationship if they thought their prospective partner had poor money management skills.

This highlights how important it is for people to be savvy in their financial dealings if they want to find love.

In terms of gender differences, 71 per cent of women think financial acumen is important in a relationship, while only 55 per cent of males share this opinion.

People in the east of England (82 per cent) were the least likely to start a relationship with members of the opposite sex who are not savvy with their finances.
