A group of servicemen have nearly completed a 3,000 mile charity row from the Canary Islands to Barbados.
So far the group – called Row2Recovery – has managed to raise nearly £700,000 in sponsorship thanks to their expedition and the money will be split between Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help, ABF The Soldiers' Charity and Help for Heroes.
Two able-bodied and four injured British military personnel have undertaken the challenge to cross the Atlantic Ocean via this course, which has only been completed successfully by 284 of the 452 rowing boats that have tried.
The team has less than 66 nautical miles to go and hope to be finished by Thursday (January 26th), which would mean the endeavour took them 53 days – usually it is between 40 and 120.
SSAFA Forces Help observed: "This has been a gruelling challenge for the group having battled water shortages, challenging weather conditions and a broken rudder."
