A military charity that supports the relatives of servicemen and women is to receive the proceeds of a fundraising event.

Money raised at the Farnborough International Airshow will go to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help campaign, Get Hampshire reports.

The organisation offers help and support to soldiers and their loved ones and its corporate and events manager Karen Woodgate said she believes this spectacle will prove a success.

She noted: "We are convinced that Farnborough International Airshow, with its strong defence and Ministry of Defence connections, will provide the perfect venue to reach a receptive audience and raise valuable funds."

The group has been in operation in the UK for the last 115 years, the source added.

It was recently reported Sir David Richards will replace Sir Jock Stirrup as the Chief of the Defence Staff in October this year after the experienced soldier was hand-picked for the role by prime minister David Cameron.
