A group of military wives and girlfriends have posed for a 1950s-inspired charity calendar to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The women were chosen from over 300 who volunteered to pose for the shots, which were taken at the Help For Heroes recovery centre in Wiltshire, the Daily Mail reports.

Lucy Jerwood's husband has served in Iraq and was delighted to be part of the initiative.

"So many of our men have come back with appalling wounds. We want to do what we can to help. What better cause could there be?" she added.

Ms Jerwood has shown her dedication by not only taking part in the shoot, but also selling her car to finance the printing process.

One famous face is also included in the calendar in the shape of former Page Three girl Peta Todd.

Todd has already taken part in a number of fundraising activities, including wingwalking and toboggan racing.
