The Military Adventure Park has collected over £700 for Help for Heroes by hosting an open day.

David Hooper, who set up the business, told the Scarborough Evening News he had not been sure "what to expect" in terms of numbers when he decided to hold the event.

However, he need not have been worried as the turnout was excellent and he thanked "all those who helped make the day possible".

Mr Hopper continued by saying his attention has already turned to hosting a similar occasion in 2012, only "on a much grander scale" as he looks to raise as much money as possible for the armed forces charity.

The Military Adventure Park describes itself as a family venue that offers a number of different activities.

Tank driving, an assault course, a laser battle and shooting range are all available at the centre, which is located in Scarborough's North Bay.
