Midge Ure has endorsed a single that is being released to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The star said he is pleased to be involved in the project, which will see a song recorded by pupils at Prior Park College hit shelves in time for Christmas, the Bath Chronicle reports.

Students have performed Christmas in my Heart and proceeds from sales will be donated to the charity, which aims to help soldiers injured while serving their country.

The single will be available through Ure's website at Tunited and the musician said: "Tunited is happy to host and sell all independent music and Help for Heroes is something we are especially happy to be associated with."

He added the project is a great effort for a worthy cause.

Get Reading recently reported Mac Mackenney is to attempt to drive from London to Cape Town in South Africa – a ride of more than 10,000 miles – in less than two weeks to generate cash for Help for Heroes.
