This is according to the Canadian National Newspaper, which also noted men should make sure their profiles are "witty [and] informative".

As well as trying to come across as light-hearted, singletons should also ensure they are informative with this message, as it is important to paint a picture of what a prospective partner can expect.

"Add a photograph, ensure that the photo is bright, clear and recent – a perfect picture with the right clothing and a [smiling] face," the paper remarked.

The information outlet continued by saying the best profiles are uplifting and sincere and always focus on the positives.

It is also a good idea for those seeking love to say they are interested in a long-term relationship, as this shows the person is taking the whole process seriously.

Dating expert Paula Hall recently said technology has made long-distance courtship much easier.
