Troops from the First Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment are to parade through the region on Monday June 14th to mark their return home from Afghanistan, Cambridge Network reports.

And the city’s local council has encouraged residents to turn out in their droves to show their recognition of the brave soldiers who have been serving abroad.

Cambridge mayor councillor Sheila Stuart commented: "I am proud to welcome home our local soldiers and hope Cambridge people will come out, line the streets and show their support."

Ms Stuart, the Colonel in Chief of the regiment and His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester will each take the salute outside King’s College.

Another region looking to show their respect for the endeavours of the Armed Forces is Middlesbrough, as the region’s Erimus Rotary Club is holding a family gala day to raise funds for the Army Benevolent Fund and Help for Heroes.
