A pair of Welsh brothers are set to run a huge 2,000 miles across the US in an attempt to raise £250,000 for forces charities, including Help for Heroes and Salute American Heroes.

Scott and Rhys Jenkins, of Cardiff, are to run the equivalent of a marathon each day for a staggering 70 days as they attempt the mission.

The pair – who have been in training for the past year – are hoping to smash the current world record of 52 consecutive marathons in as many days.

Scott explained to BBC News: "We've been training for the last 12 months. During the week we've been running half-marathons and then 30 miles on the weekend."

He added it is a difficult amount to raise but the duo will be running with buckets and are hopeful people will support the endeavour.

Meanwhile, a golf competition was recently set up in Beck Row to raise funds for hero soldiers wounded while serving their country.
