Man wins battle with shark

Have you ever seen the film Jaws?

For me, the scariest bit in the movie is when they shoot the shark with a hook and it pulls the boat along.

And it seems that life is imitating art as a kayaker was dragged for half a mile after landing a six foot shark while fishing.

Rupert Kirkwood had been in the water for hours trying to land a prize catch, before getting the 65 lb fish.

"I tightened up the drag and swung the rod around and it started pulling me along – eventually I reeled it in and carefully lifted it out," he told the Western Morning News.

Mr Kirkwood has been fishing in the area for ten years and he has never had an experience like it before.

The animals can be extremely dangerous, as evidenced by a recent Great White Shark attack on a man in South Africa that saw him lose his right leg and part of his left foot.
