A man has announced he is to climb the three highest mountains in north Africa in a bid to raise as much money as possible for Help for Heroes.

Lee Notman, 31, who lives in Castletown on the Isle of Man, will head to the continent to reach the peaks of M'Goun, Ouanoukrim and Toubkal, which are found in the Central Atlas Mountains, reports Isle of Man Today.

Mr Notman was inspired to raise funds for a military charity after one of his friend's suffered at the hands of a roadside bomb while serving in Afghanistan.

"His case was widely reported in the media and he is seen a lot. He has been so inspirational in the way he has coped with it that I wanted to raise money for the charity," Mr Notman explained.

Colleagues at Canada Life in Castletown have got his fundraising campaign off to a good start by donating £300 to the cause.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801684143-ADNFCR
