A man is planning to run 26.2 miles along a canal towpath in the West Midlands in order to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Chris Guidon, 30, of Kidderminster has come up with a marathon-distance route alongside the Birmingham Canal and the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, which will finish in his hometown, reports the Kidderminster Shuttle.

He will set off tomorrow morning (April 5th) on his challenge and will carry a tracking device so people can follow his progress.

"I thought I had brought myself up to a level of fitness and maybe to the required level for a marathon and wanted to make the most of it and support the troops in any way that I can," Mr Guidon explained.

He went on to note that while most people take around seven to 12 months to prepare for a marathon, he has done it in just a month, but that will not stop him from finishing.
