A man is to live on his own on a rock in the middle of the North Atlantic for 60 days in order to raise money for military charity Help for Heroes.

Nick Hancock will stay in a pod on the small landmass known as Rockall, which is 21 metres high and 260 miles from the Outer Hebrides.

His daring and solo challenge will provide a good opportunity for him to raise money for the charity.

Mr Hancock told the BBC that he fears the weather will mean he has to stay inside his pod for three or four days at a time, which he suspects may have a negative impact on his mood.

He first visited Rockall last year and he admitted it "grabbed his imagination", leading to him dreaming of a return visit.

Now, it has emerged that the visit will last for 60 days and result in him hopefully raising a significant sum for Help for Heroes.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801587160-ADNFCR
