A man from Loftus in north Yorkshire is to undergo a hairstyle transformation in an effort to raise cash for Help for Heroes (H4H).

John Allinson is having his head shaved and then dyed into the colour of a poppy in order to show his support for the military charity, the Evening Gazette reports.

He noted the reason he picked H4H is because it looks after British soldiers who are serving in places like Afghanistan "risking life and limb".

"I'm not scared at the reactions I might get from folk. I have a jovial personality and the more attention I attract, the better," Mr Allinson stated.

The madcap idea has already attracted £200 in sponsors and he is confident that he will be able to receive much more money.

Mr Allinson will have his hair bleached and coloured tomorrow (November 2nd), before having it cut into the right shape the day after.
