A man will cycle 100 miles in one day to collect cash for Help for Heroes (H4H).

Bill Heffernan, who has been riding since he was 12 years old, noted he jumps on his two-wheeler most days of the year, the Nottingham Post reports.

"I would be quite happy to do the whole thing quietly myself but I know I'll raise the most money by shouting about it," he added.

The 56-year-old – whose brother was in the Royal Air Force – observed he is confident he will be able to complete the distance without too many problems, as he has done a few 75-mile bike rides before.

Mr Heffernan is planning to navigate his way through four counties – Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Rutland – on the challenge.

As well as being inspired by his brother, he observed a lot of his friends are in the army and so H4H was a natural choice for him.
