A man has been rushed to hospital after swallowing a fork in a drunken bet he only took to impress a friend.
Radu Calincescu, 25, had to be taken to the A&E department of a hospital in the city of Bacau, Romania in the aftermath of the bizarre stunt.
He told doctors that he had noticed an uncomfortable feeling within his oesophagus, but declined to mention that he had previously been snacking on items of cutlery.
Medical professionals have now told him there is nothing they can do for now and the next step is simply to wait to see if the fork comes out naturally.
"I have to come back in a few days to see if the fork has moved. If it reaches my stomach and looks like it could pierce the lining I will need an operation," Mr Calincescu explained.
He finally admitted that carrying out the bet had been "a very stupid thing to do".
