Man sues wife over ugly child

A Chinese man has divorced and sued his wife after she gave birth to what he deemed to be an extremely ugly child.

Jian Feng initially believed his wife had been unfaithful after their daughter was born, as he was sure he could not have fathered an unattractive youngster, but she soon admitted that she had actually had about $100,000 (£62,000) of plastic surgery before they met.

He then sued his wife on the grounds of false pretenses, as he was angry she had not confessed to the surgery before they wed.

In what some will see as an astonishing result in court, Mr Feng won his case and his now ex-wife was forced to pay him over $120,000 in compensation.

"I married my wife out of love, but as soon as we had our first daughter we began having marital issues. Our daughter was incredibly ugly, to the point where it horrified me," he told the Irish Times.
