Have you seen the film 127 Hours?

It's the true story of Aaron Ralston, who cut off his own arm after getting it stuck underneath a boulder in the Utah canyon.

Now a man from Colorado in the US has gone through an equally gruesome experience, after he had to sever all of his toes on one foot in order to save his life.

John Hutt had been getting firewood when the trailer attached to his tractor slipped and left him pinned to the ground.

After shouting out for a help, he realised there was only one thing for it and got out his trusty penknife.

Once Mr Hutt managed to free himself, he then drove his tractor for 50 miles before getting back into mobile phone range and calling for an ambulance.

When asked about the possibility of reattaching the toes, he said: "They told me there was no hope for them."
