Train passengers in Sweden have been met by an unusual sight in recent days, after a group of male drivers opted to turn up for work wearing skirts.

A total of 12 drivers who work on the Roslagsbanan line in the Scandinavian country were told they could not wear shorts as part of their uniform this summer.

With temperatures in the country sometimes uncomfortably high at this time of the year, the professionals have decided to turn to skirts, which are within the rules.

Martin Akersten, one of the drivers, told the BBC: "It's very warm weather here so we would like to wear shorts, but if we can't then we have skirts for comfort."

Bosses at Arriva have already declared shorts are off limits for the train drivers, and the ban remains in place despite the unusual ploy by workers.

Mr Akersten went on to reveal that no passengers have yet passed comment on his attire.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801597083-ADNFCR
