A maimed soldier has set himself a £100,000 fundraising goal to show his appreciation to the charities that helped with his recovery.

The British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association, the Army Benevolent Fund, Help for Heroes and Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association Forces Help will all benefit due to the support they showed Sergeant Rick Clement.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Sgt Clement – who lost both legs and part of an arm in Afghanistan – will undertake a parachute jump and swim with sharks as he seeks to collect as much cash as possible.

"It's massively important to me and my wife that we do something for the people who helped us," he noted.

The soldier continued by saying that he is keen to show his gratitude to the organisations for the care they have offered him.

Mr Clement will also be carrying the Olympic torch on June 22nd.
