Motorists in North Yorkshire were inconvenienced recently when thousands of pickled onions spilled out across a carriageway.

A lorry travelling on the A614 near Drax shed its load of picked onions as it tried to navigate a roundabout at about 12.30 BST on Tuesday (October 15th).

Hundreds of barrels containing the food were lost and ended up pouring out across the road, bringing other drivers to a halt.

Sean Stewart from Google took some photographs when he came across the bizarre incident and said: "I'd never seen so many pickles in my whole life. I just couldn't believe my eyes.

"It's lucky the pickles rolled away from the road otherwise there could have been a serious accident."

Luckily, despite the possibility of plenty of drivers being left with watering eyes as a result of the unusual load, nobody was seriously hurt in the incident.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801651260-ADNFCR
