Stories are still emerging of people's recent Help for Heroes Colossal Cake Sale activities.

One of the sales linked to the fundraising campaign took place in Kelso, Scotland, and saw local outlets like Greggs and the Four Seasons Cafe offer their support, according to The Southern Reporter.

Borders Help for Heroes Team volunteers sold nearly £700 worth of baked treats to people at the May event, which saw hundreds of baked goods donated by locals.

Anne Armstrong, from nearby Gordon, led the team of cake sellers, which included fellow volunteers and friends.

“People’s generosity made it a huge success, and I will be doing the same next year,” Mrs Armstrong told the news provider.

The Help for Heroes Colossal Cake Sale campaign was focused on the period from April 19th and May 5th this year, with Whitworths Sugar sponsoring the initiative.

A report has also emerged from the Dorset Echo of a Colossal Cake Sale event that raised £500.

This sale was held by volunteers from the Bovington Thrift Shop, where Help for Heroes is a charity many staff members hold close to their hearts, according to the news provider.

It's the second year in a row the shop has been involved in Help for Heroes Colossal Cake Sale initiative, and it's reported that a lot of the shop's customers favour the charity.

We're fast drawing closer to the Tower of London Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red installation, which will also be helping Help for Heroes and kicks off later this year.

Historic Royal Palaces reports that the moat of the Tower is set to be filled with an installation featuring hundreds of thousands of ceramic poppy flowers, starting August 5th.

The public will buy these poppies and proceeds will go to Help for Heroes as well as several other service charities. It's hoped the charities involved will share more than £15 million raised this way.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801725406-ADNFCR
