A lifeguard has scaled the five highest peaks in the British Isles in order to raise money for Help for Heroes (H4H).

Danielle Holford from Cromer in North Norfolk climbed the equivalent height of Kilimanjaro during the Heroes Five Peaks Challenge, Norfolk Eastern Daily Press reports.

So far she has collected over £1,350 as a result of her endeavours and she thanked everyone who donated.

"It was the hardest but best thing I've ever done, both mentally and physically. You keep thinking the top is within reach and then find there's still a long haul ahead," Ms Holford observed.

The 25-year-old stated she had found Ben Nevis the trickiest of the five climbs, while it rained non-stop when they were in Ireland.

Some 92 people took part in the challenge, which consisted of Ben Nevis in Scotland, Snowdon in Wales, Scarfell Pike in Cumbria, Sleive Donard in Northern Ireland and Carrantouhill in the Republic of Ireland.
