A whole host of armed forces teams have helped to raise more than £10,000 for the Help for Heroes charity.

The Army, Navy and RAF each put forward a six-man team to compete in a cross-Channel kite-surfing relay race on Friday (September 10th), which saw the Navy reign triumphant after spending a gruelling seven-and-a-half hours on the water.

Captain Stephen Scullion, captain of the Navy team, admitted conditions were tough, but the challenge was worth it because of the cash raised for the charity – which provides assistance to wounded members of the armed forces.

He told the Bournemouth Echo: "It was fairly competitive, but our main aim was to raise money for the injured guys through the Help for Heroes charity."

Similarly, Colonel Simon Vandeleur, who is in charge of the Army in Edinburgh, is soon set to endure a gruelling 350-mile bike ride between Brussels and Arnheim in the hope of raising cash for the forces organisation.
