Kiss have announced they are to raise money for UK servicemen and women injured in battle by performing a special gig this summer.

The iconic US rock group, who have generated funds for American troops in years gone by, are now doing their bit for British soldiers by donating proceeds from the event to Help for Heroes.

To be staged on July 4th – Independence Day in the US – the spectacle is likely to see the group making their way through a classic portfolio of songs, including Rock and Roll All Nite and Detroit Rock City.

Paul Stanley, who founded Kiss along with Gene Simmons in the 1970s, noted: "We pay tribute to those brave men and women and urge everyone to show their thanks with donations."

The star described the armed forces as the "greatest national treasure" of any free country, explaining it has become the band's mission to draw attention to the good work carried out by military personnel serving overseas.
