A trio of friends are to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in an attempt to raise money for brave troops injured while serving on the front line.

Jacey Butler, Luke Tiani and Shane Taylor will scale the famous peak to collect funds for the Help for Heroes charity after a friend of theirs was wounded in action, the Bournemouth Echo reports.

The threesome are training for the challenge at Perfect Fit Boot Camp and will take part in a charity ball that is to take place at the West Hants Club on February 5th next year.

Mr Butler said the group were inspired to take on the fundraiser when they visited their mate in hospital.

"After that we thought we must do something to help," the 22-year-old explained.

It comes after Barry and District News recently reported Dinas Powys RFC is raising cash for Help for Heroes through a charity rugby match between the club's youth players past and present.
