Help for Heroes was the major beneficiary of a special karate event held in Devon over the weekend.
Exmouth's Cranford Sports Club was the setting for Saturday's (October 26th) South West Region Karate Championships, which was entered by a number of local students, reports the Herald Express.
Categories for adults and children of all abilities and experience were available, in addition to a pool that was designed to give students the chance to try karate for the first time.
A number of different events were on offer to those who attended, including Kata (set forms of karate) and Kumite, which is effectively a sparring competition.
All of the money raised – whether it came from the participants themselves or people who attended to watch the contest – was handed to Help for Heroes.
The charity works to support ex-servicemen and women who have sustained mental or physical injuries while serving their country.
