Kanzi the chimp cooks his own dinner

In Disney film The Jungle Book, King Louie is an orangutan who is desperate to know how to make fire.

Now it seems an animal from the ape world has finally managed to tie down the secret in real life, as Kanzi the chimpanzee has been photographed not only creating a blaze, but also cooking and eating his own food.

It certainly seems like this creature is smarter than average and you have to admit what he can manage is pretty impressive.

Dr Sue Savage-Rumbaugh – who takes care of the animal in Iowa – told the Daily Mail that Kanzi starts fires "because he wants to".

Not content with throwing any old meal together, the chimp can rustle up a mean hamburger and he has even started to teach his son how to cook as well.

You have to take your hat off to the animal as he is clearly one of the smartest creatures on the planet.
