A jealous boyfriend has described how he believes an orangutan is trying to steal his girlfriend Hollie Gordon.

Worried scientist Andrew Ingledow, 22, says the ape, named Ramon, blows kisses and tries to stroke Hollie Gordon's face whenever the pair pay a visit to the zoo.

The flirtatious ape has reportedly become quite infatuated with Ms Gordon and often stares lovingly at her.

Mr Ingledow, described the ape as a "womaniser" that has tried it on with many girls and female zookeepers.

He said: "He's clearly attracted to her as whenever he sees her he comes running over, and if she puts her face near the glass he will stroke it or blow her kisses. He loves her and she now has a real soft spot for him too. I would be getting worried if he wasn't an orangutan and to be honest I'm relieved there is an inter-species barrier.

"If Ramon sees me first he will come over and start looking around to see if Hollie is with me and if he can't see her he will be clearly frustrated until she arrives."

Once a fortnight, he and Miss Gordon, 22, an amateur photographer, make the 200-mile round-trip from her home in Carlisle, Cumbria, to Blackpool Zoo.

Miss Gordon suffers from Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), an illness that often leaves the 22 year-old bedbound.

The trips to the zoo are a way for Hollie to remain distracted from her illness.

She said that Ramon is hugely popular with guests at the zoo and attracts crowds of up to 20 people at the same time.

However, she added: "'But if I move away to give people room to take pictures of Ramon he gets upset and if I'm no longer visible he will walk off.

"So it's quite awkward when people want to take pictures as I don't want to be in other people's photos but if I'm not nearby then they might not get a shot of Ramon!"ADNFCR-2867-ID-801800077-ADNFCR
