Single soldiers who want to get to know a person properly before jumping into a relationship with them may find using the internet is helpful.

This is because researchers have suggested that going online to find love will allow potential partners to get to know each other better.

Dr Jeff Gavin, a psychology lecturer at the University of Bath, tells the Guardian: "We also tend to ask more questions online – and give more intimate answers – than when communicating face-to-face. So we make up for the missing information like facial expressions."

He adds that posting a flattering profile picture on social networking sites is not a case of embellishment but instead it should be likened to making an effort to look nice when heading out to a nightclub.

Elly Robinson, manager of Australian Family Relationships Clearing House, recently told ANI that online dating could be a good option for those hoping to find love quickly, as relationships tend to move faster in the internet environment.
