Single soldiers considering setting up an online dating profile might want to keep their personal details brief and to-the-point.

According to ology.com contributor Chelsea Davison, fellow web surfers may be likely to ignore a person’s profile if wading through all the information appears too much of a chore.

The expert noted the key is to identify certain specifics that can grab another subscriber’s attention.

"Too many times I have skipped over profiles simply because they are too long and I was not in the mood to invest much reading time," Ms Davison explained.

She added a few concrete snippets of information should be enough to alert a prospective partner and decide whether or not they seem suitable enough to get in touch.

Scotland on Sunday journalist Samantha Sholfield recently recommended people searching for a web-based fling should make their profile as unique and attractive as possible by revealing personal matters, such as interesting hobbies.
