A soldier who lost a leg in Afghanistan could soon be beamed across the nation’s TV screens after completing the second round of auditions for Big Brother.

Carl Lowes, from Bradford, is now waiting to hear if he has made it through to the next stage of the popular Channel 4 show, the Telegraph and Argus reported.

The 23-year-old suffered more than 20 injuries in Afghanistan when he was caught in a bomb blast but has no intentions of feeling sorry for himself and wants to get on with his life.

He told the newspaper that the second round of tests was like being interviewed in the Big Brother Diary Room.

"This time during the interview you were speaking into a camera, there was no-one in the room with you. They asked me questions about what I was doing in my life right now," Mr Lowes added.

Other troops who fancy a stint in the house can go along to auditions taking place this month and next, with openings in Cardiff, Glasgow and London.
