Hundreds of people have showed their support for brave troops by taking part in a walking event over the Malvern Hills.

More than 250 fundraisers turned out for the event, which was the second annual trek to generate money for the Help for Heroes charity, the Malvern Gazette News reports.

As much as £10,000 was raised for the cause and Dave Lewis, the regional coordinator for the charity in Oxfordshire, described the spectacle as "absolutely brilliant".

Mr Lewis, who started the get-together last year, added: "We have had so much positive feedback about how the event was run."

Participants trekked for ten miles and were presented with medals at the finish line, while younger people and those who thought they would be unable to complete the stretch had the option to stroll a five-mile route.

Members of RAF Benson recently raised more than £11,000 for the Help for Heroes cause after successfully completing the Jungfrau Marathon in Switzerland.
