While online dating and job interviews might not immediately appear to share many similarities, one person believes they are actually extremely alike.
Heather Dugan from Salary.com has written a piece for the Houston Chronicle in which she explained there is plenty that links the two scenarios.
Firstly, people who are unemployed tend to jump at the first job they find, just like singletons might be willing to settle for second best in order to end their loneliness.
But in both cases, it is advisable to think long and hard about one's circumstances and hold out for what is right.
And just like people who come out of a long-term relationship must brush up on their dating skills if they are to be a hit once again, those seeking a job must be up to date with all the latest industry trends.
Ms Dugan went on to suggest that standing out is a good idea in both scenes, as wallflowers "are last to dance and slow to be hired".
