Honesty is the best policy when online dating

There is a certain distrust about online behaviours, whether it be shopping or even the information we read on certain websites.

The same could be said for meeting strangers through online dating – the only way to gain someone's trust is to be completely honest. While you want to make your profile stand out and be as appealing as possible, lying about achievements or your hobbies will not get you anywhere in the long run.

Saying that you enjoy going for long walks in the countryside just to sound attractive to another person is not the way forward if you hate them – if you have nothing in common that is fine, there are plenty of people out there who you will share interests with.

Along with honesty, being positive is another attractive quality when online dating. Think of your profile as a dating CV – you would not be negative on your curriculum vitae when applying for a job, so don't do this when trying to attract others on the web.
