We may well sing the praises of the National Health Service as one of the true British institutions, but while we are rightly proud of what can be achieved by wonderful British doctors, a new viral video has shown that healthcare is not something restricted to the human population.

The clip, filmed in India, has shown two monkeys, one of which is hit with a nasty electric shock as the two were exploring and discovering cables around the train tracks in the northern city of Kanpur.

One of the two primates was playing around when it came into contact with the high voltage cables, and it was given a hefty electric shock that left it laying unconscious on the ground. However, rather than run away or leave its friend in peril, the other monkey sprung into action.

The hero monkey dragged his friend to safety away from the cables after it was electrocuted, before hitting it repeatedly in a bid to wake it up. When this didn't work, the monkey then dipped his companion in a pool of cold water to revive him. That's real friendship.

In other clever animal news, a cat in Russia hit the jackpot after sneaking its way into the gourmet food section at Vladivostok Airport. The cat is said to be a stray that often hangs around the airport, but it rarely causes as much financial woe for the owners as it did recently.

A video shows the feline intruder sneaking its way under a gourmet fish counter before it leaps up onto the display and starts to binge itself on some of the finest fish on offer.

It may well have had the time of its life, but the cat is estimated to have hit the business owner hard in the pocket. The cost of his little binge? Apparently he managed to chew his way through over £600 worth of seafood treats. ADNFCR-2867-ID-801767205-ADNFCR
