A father has organised a special Help for Heroes-supporting polo event, after his son received help from the charity.

David Cowley has worked to put together a Best of British Polo event for June 1st, which will include the first ever para-polo match in the world. It comes after he witnessed what Help for Heroes did for Major Nick Cowley, his son, and the rest of his family, following Nick sustaining injury while serving his country.

“We are excited to be involved with such an extraordinary charity and are very grateful both to them and to Tidworth Polo Club for their enthusiasm and support for such an important day in the polo calendar," David has said.

He said attendees would witness "an epic eyeful of the best polo as the players battle it out in style and in such a beautiful setting."

David's son Nick is going to play in the Para-Polo match at the Wiltshire's Tidworth Polo Club occasion on June 1st. Other wonder players participating are Veteran Andrew Jelinek, Veteran Elaine Corner and Veteran Clifford O’Farrell. Players from the Army team will also take part in the game.

The Best of British Polo occasion that will help bring in funding for Help for Heroes is also going to be home to a Best of British Under 25 match. The Royal Navy team will also compete against the Royal Air Force team in the Tidworth Polo Club Duke of York’s Cup on the day.

Help for Heroes has a Sports Recovery programme which features polo, among other activities, and helps people who have become ill, injured and wounded through sporting activity.

Fellow charity Combat Stress recently gave word of the thousands that have gone towards its cause after being raised by people taking part in two recent marathons in Brighton and London.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801719170-ADNFCR
