Armed forces charity Help for Heroes could be set to be boosted by a major donation after a campaign was launched to raise £1 million through a series of walks.

March for Heroes has been thought up by a PR agency and will see as many as 250 cities and towns all over the UK taking part in a synchronised event on September 3rd.

Graham Parker from Parker PR explained that the idea came after £4,000 was raised on a cold day in December when a march was held to drum up funds for Help for Heroes.

"We have drafted a plan for people to follow when organising a march. Because we have done it all before the template makes it so much simpler," he said.

Each walk will require a band and ex-service personnel, as well as lots of volunteers to collect money in buckets from attendees.

Recent homecoming marches have been held in Leeds and Nuneaton to give the public the chance to thank the armed forces for their efforts in defending their country.
