The Help for Heroes logo is to be emblazoned across the kit of a non-league football team.

Witton Albion will sport the name to raise awareness for the charity, which helps soldiers wounded in battle, the Northwich Guardian reports.

The spot is usually reserved for a commercial sponsor but the club's chairman said the team loved the new idea from the start.

Mark Harris stated: "It ticks all the boxes – as a non-league football club with a decent level of exposure, we can help the charity get across their message."

One of the club's supporters, who does not want to be named, came up with the idea last month and presented it to the board, he explained.

A Help for Heroes rugby team, coached by Ben Ryan and including team members Mat Turner, Dan Caprice and John Brake, recently competed at the Middlesex Charity Sevens, which took place at Twickenham.
