A single mother is to undertake a heady challenge in an effort to raise funds for brave soldiers injured while fighting for their country.

Laura Crick, 31, will take on the Base Camp Mount Everest Trek in November – and proceeds from the expedition will be heading to the Help for Heroes charity.

The adventurer has set up a blog page where friends, family and anyone else interested in her fundraising efforts can keep track of her progress.

She explained the online journal will keep note of her "training, fundraising and general information about Everest, kit needed – [it is] really an informative diary of my experience between now and the trek itself".

The blog is something that the troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq – indeed anywhere in the world – may be keen to check out, Ms Crick added.

Another Help for Heroes supporter is motorbike fanatic Damien English, who will be swapping his engine for pedal power when he takes part in the Big Battlefield Bike Ride Tour in aid of the charity, the Petersfield Post reported.
