The children of wounded soldiers were treated to a special circus thanks to the charity Help for Heroes.
The performance was held at the Help for Heroes Recovery Centre, Chavasse VC House, where entertainers juggled balls, walked the tightrope, used unicycles and hula hoops at the event.
Organised by Abbie Giggs, H4H Band of Brothers/Band of Sisters co-ordinator, the performance allowed families to get together and have fun during the summer holidays.
It gave children and parents the chance to socialise with others in similar situations to themselves.
Commenting on the event, Abbie Giggs, said: "For our Band of Sisters, which includes the sons and daughters of our heroes, getting together to socialise and share experiences is a vital part of their support. Summer holidays can be an expensive and stressful time for families and when you are also dealing with the issues that many of our wounded are facing it’s great to be able to offer some time out here at the Colchester Recovery Centre."
The Band of Sisters aims to help both male and female veterans who have been injured in the line of their duty and their families.
The event included a barbecue, proceeds of which will go towards the charity’s annual summer fundraising campaign, BBQ for Heroes.
Many of the children later described how much they enjoyed the event and said they will further help to support military heroes.
