Help for Heroes will be hoping to raise some vital funds by the end of the year, after it opened a new store in time for the Christmas rush, sure to catch the attention of shoppers heading out for presents in the town of Worksop.

The Worksop Guardian reports that the charity opened a temporary store in the Priory Centre in the town that it hopes will bring in funds to help injured servicemen and their families now and into 2015.

According to the news source, the store will be open between now and January of 2015, with seven day access for shoppers. It sells a range of goods, including bric-a-brac, clothing, homewares and other donated merchandise.

People coming into the store will also be able to get themselves tickets for a raffle with a number of great prizes, including among others a ceramic rose, recently on display at the Tower of London ahead of Remembrance Day. Many of the roses were sold off, but one lucky winner can still get their hands on one if they head to the store.

Elsewhere, the owner of a hair salon in Ruislip has also got into the Christmas spirit in the name of Help for Heroes. Christine Ball, who owns The Cutting Corner in Howlett's Lane, opened a Santa's grotto in her store, transforming it into a winter wonderland to help raise funds.

"We do a grotto every year but we wanted to use it to raise money and we thought it would be nice to raise funds for Help for Heroes in particular because of it being the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War this year," she said.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801764622-ADNFCR
