Single soldiers and other members of the military may be interested to hear of a carnival taking place this month in honour of Help for Heroes.

The Leigh Park event will be held on June 25th in Stockheath Common, with funds going towards the charity, the Portsmouth News reports.

But one of the main acts has pulled out of the show, which is entirely military-themed, meaning organisers are searching for a stand-in.

Chairman of the carnival committee John Statham said: "There must be someone out there who can help us."

Events planned for the day include live African music, dancing and a family funfair.

Those who believe they can help the cause are asked to get in touch with Mr Statham.

Another occasion being held to raise money for Help for Heroes is a charity Mini drive, which will see owners of the petite motors travel from the Cotswolds to Wootton Basset, Thisisgloucestershire reported.
