Help for Heroes (H4H) will benefit from Norwich City's goalless draw with Reading on Saturday (November 10th).
Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy donates every clean sheet bonus he is awarded to the military charity and it is the fourth time this season the opposing team has failed to score past him, the Norwich Evening News reports.
"We've beaten the total from last season already so onwards and upwards with that and hopefully we can really give them something to smile about at the end of the season," he said of the achievement.
Ruddy – whose family has a number of connections with the armed forces – stated it was particularly poignant as the match was played just 24 hours before Remembrance Sunday.
The 26-year-old believes it is vitally important that soldiers get the recognition they deserve for putting their lives on the line for their country, while he was also pleased to get the chance to observe a two-minute silence.
