A number of Gurkhas based in Warminster came together recently to hold an event designed to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The community organised a curry night that took place at the district Conservative Club on November 23rd and ended up raising around £1,100 for the good cause, reports the Wiltshire Times.

Some 150 guests attended the curry night, with all of the food prepared by Gurkha chefs with the Warminster-based 1st Battlion the Yorkshire Regiment.

Organiser Dharma Gurung said: "We wanted to give something back to the community and raise some money for a worthy cause, especially as Warminster has strong links with the army."

It was not only the delicious food that helped to raise money for Help for Heroes though, as there was also a raffle that brought in £228.

Money donated to Help for Heroes is used to support members of the armed forces who have been wounded in service, enabling them to make the most of their lives.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801670437-ADNFCR
