Thanks to Jaws, everyone thinks of great white sharks as the predators of the ocean.

Individuals are rightly scared by the prospect of coming face-to-face with one of the creatures, in case it turns nasty.

However, Mike Parry from South Africa has managed to get an incredible shot of the beast in the wild.

While on his fishing boat near Dyer Island, Cape Province, he managed to snap a great white shark seemingly smiling right back at him.

"No one on the boat could believe that I was lucky enough to catch the exact moment. It takes a lot of waiting and patience for that one lucky shot," Mr Parry observed.

The avid photographer was only five feet away from the fish whenever it happened and it shows a different side to the creature.

Another person who has no problem getting up close and personal with sharks is Cristina Zenato, as she charms Caribbean Reef ones by rubbing the jelly-filled pores around their noses and mouths.
