A countrywide dining event is being organised to help raise money for injured troops.

Participants are being asked to host a charity dinner party as part of the Great Herts Fest, which will generate money for Help for Heroes and Herts Air Ambulance, the Watford Observer reports.

The get-togethers can take any form and may include street parties, black tie banquets or a simple fish and chips meal, the newspaper explained.

Guests at the gatherings will be asked to make a donation and the cash collected will be equally split between the two causes.

Nicola Ramsden, organiser of the event, said: "I hope that lots of people will want to hold parties to support the great work that these charities do."

She added it is rewarding to be able to raise money and have some fun at the same time.

W Maiden and Son butchers recently revealed it is holding a giant pumpkin 'guess the weight' contest to collect funds for Help for Heroes, the Express & Star reported.
