A golf tournament in Potters Bar has helped raise money that will be used to support soldiers.

The Watford Observer reports almost £7,000 was raised at the charity event at Potters Bar Golf Club last Friday (September 3rd).

Proceeds from the occasion are being donated to Help for Heroes, a charity that aims to provide support to servicemen and women who have been wounded in conflict.

Mayor of Hertsmere and Bushey Park councillor Linda Silver opted to help the charity in honour of her late father who swerved in the Royal Engineers and was quoted by the news source as saying the tournament "raised a fantastic amount of money".

"The day was wonderful and I am so grateful to those who donated items to auction and to all those who took part," she added.

Last month, a contest at Oake Manor Golf Club raised over £2,000 for Help for Heroes, according to the Somerset County Gazette.
