A 14-year-old girl has run a half-marathon in bizarre circumstances, after not even entering the race herself.

Nidaa Abbasi was due to compete in the 1.5-mile fun run through Nottingham recently, but organisers panicked when the lead car stalled and directed youngsters on to the 13-mile course by mistake, according to the Daily Express.

She explained she only realised there had been an error when she passed a sign stating she had run four miles.

"I decided to carry on, it was okay. By the end I was getting tired and I walked a bit. It was fun. I prepared for the mini-marathon, not the half-marathon," Ms Abbasi said.

Despite not preparing for the half-marathon or doing any training to condition herself for such a long run, the girl finished in an impressive time of three hours.

She even managed to finish alongside her mum and dad, who had always planned to run the 13-mile course, and they had photos taken together at the end.entADNFCR-2867-ID-801645156-ADNFCR
